The vision of the International Faculty of Theology is to help urban workers bridge the gap between Bible institute training and a ministerial degree. By transferring Bible institute units and augmenting them with a robust academic program, I.F.T.'s Bachelor in Christian Ministry program (B. Min.) offers unique educational access, enabling students to advance to graduate work and take positive steps towards their future.

The Bachelor in Christian Ministry program seeks to serve pastors and key lay workers who are challenged by the Lord to further their preparation in a post-modern world urban ministry setting. The program is for those who:

  • Are seeking an opportunity to build on their previous educational experience
  • Are ready to commit to an intensive study program
  • Value gifted faculty
  • Have limited financial resources
  • Appreciate a relevant curriculum that meets real needs
  • Long to be a part of a learning community in a spiritual and academic setting

The Bachelor in Christian Ministry program is designed in the cohort model, bringing 25-30 students to study together for the duration of the program. Other elements of the design include:

  • Completion in 9 to 13 months.
  • Classes the first and third Saturday of each month, and one-week intensives.
  • Two language tracks: Spanish and English.
  • Students writing and defending an original research thesis based on a ministry of their choosing.

The program requires 42 semester hours of study, organized into six modules of intensives and thesis research and writing.  The International Faculty of Theology is committed to those who seek the necessary training for vocational ministry as well as for those who consider an educational foundation for entrance into a professional masters program.

A hallmark of IFT’s contribution to global Christian leadership training is the development of a bilingual track that enables the Spanish or English speaking to fully participate in its educational ministerial program characterized by a Spirit-filled and cross-cultural focus.

IFT is a member of the Asociación Teológica Hispana (ATH). ATH is an association composed of universities, seminaries, Bible schools, Bible institutes, and denominations in the Southern California area. ATH core mission is the evaluation and endorsement of certificate programs, ministerial diplomas, and undergraduate ministerial programs offered in traditional Spanish speaking Bible Institutes and educational programs. ATH endorsement is a process through which an educational institution maintains and improves its standards and practices. ATH developed a set of standards by which an educational institution can be measured. It is the responsibility of endorsing organizations to ensure quality, accountability, and improvement in educational institutions that are endorsed by them. The Ministerial Diploma and the Bachelor of Christian Ministry programs are endorsed by ATH.

IFT is an outgrowth of the pastoral ministry of Dr. Enrique Zone and the Beverly Blvd. Church in Montebello, California. From its inception in 1978, IFT has maintained a vital relationship with the church’s leadership in fulfilling the Great Commission, preparing and equipping men and women for the manifold ministries of the local church and the global communities of the world. Because of this relationship IFT has a religious exemption status as provided within the provisions of the State of California Education Code with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.  As a pioneer institution, IFT has graduated pastors, Christian educators, missionaries, evangelists, church planters, and local workers, primarily in the Hispanic community of Southern California and beyond.
