Hello fellow faculty,

I have been attending Fuller Theological Seminary again this quarter and doing some fantastic classes in theology.

One of them is Modern Church History and covers the period between 1450 and 1950 dealing with the effects of colonization and the development of churches throughout the world.  The other class is a Global Theology class and covered what God is doing throughout the world from the Patristic period as a foundation, throughout history and contemporary spiritual movements.

The attached is an article called Venacular Theology which is a new term I learned and it is explained in the paper.

The assignment was to take a theological issue and cover a western point of view and a non-western point of view.  For this paper, although both writers are initially westerners, they are globally minded.  I hope you enjoy the paper.  If you do read it, please send any comments.

Fantastic!  I havent read that book, but I did take Dr. McConnell's class on
"Thinking Missiologically"which is another eye opener of applying different models to work through cultural problem solving.  Very interesting, indeed.   BTW, I am coming to the office this am to meet with Sisters Eva and Angela for World Conference.  Was wondering if you can help me change this pic!  ha!  ha!  I'm still upside down, maybe its a sign of non-conformance but anyway I should probably fix it or my writings may be seen as the same!

Thanks for sharing Vivian.  Very interesting.  The article reminds me of Stone & Duke's book, How to think Theologically, where they contend that theology, (the study of God) can be a practical skill by which people can make religious sense of life situations.
